Since I was ordering random parts from Futurlec, I ordered a couple of hard to find 4-contact, 3.5 mm audio-plugs and some cheap-ass electret microphone elements. Using these, I put one of these things together: (yeah - it's ugly... I'm not quite finished with it yet)
Works fine for voice memos - not bad for $1.80. Problem is that the Touch auto-mutes its internal speaker when the mic is plugged in - it's expecting that ear-phones are plugged in too. Not sure how to get around this problem, other than breaking out the other two contacts into some headphones.
I bought another 4-contact plug so that I can run my guitar directly into the Touch and use
GuitarToolkit's tuner. Haven't gotten around to doing this yet.
By the way - the active end of the microphone gets connected to the 4th ring back from the tip. The 3rd ring up is ground. Weird, but true.
Awsome creation
