love and goodness from Japan!

Mariko is the ultimate source for all things good and crafty, so it's no surprise that she turned me on to the Gimme Your Stuff "cultural exchange blog". Not surprisingly, I immediately searched for any bloggers up for a swap from Japan, and awesome Anjali was willing to swap with me! We agreed on a budget and theme (notions & treats!), and we both went out shopping. My package arrived early this week, crammed with fun, kawaii goodies she picked out especially for me! Here's a picture of (some of) the loot (I just can't seem to find the sweet treats anywhere... I wonder where they've gotten to?!?):

Trim_swap

I love how all the trims are packaged onto a little piece of cardboard and tied with string... reminds me of all the careful yet casual styling in so many of my Japanese craft books. Anjali did an amazing job of picking for me - plenty of cute and fun to last me quite a while! Did you notice the "I am sitting" and "I am drinking" trims? Too much!

Anyway, the swap was a total success at my end, and I hope Anjali enjoys the goodies I sent her way just as well. Now I'm wondering if I should stalk someone else for another round...

Yeah, Anjali is an outstanding swapper! Those trims are very fun!

CUTE trims! What a fun swap.

What lovely things - and you're right about the packaging - Japanese styling cares so much about getting the detail right and it's so effective.

It's always a happy day when a package arrives from Japan! Looks like Anjali was a good partner. Her choices are charming!

those trims look so fun. what a great swap!

Don't you love Japanese goodies? Their design is so fascinating! I am glad to have found Anjali's blog through you. So admirable that she had the gusto to move to Japan to teach for a while!

thanks for the link! i'll have to keep that bookmarked for when i feel like stalking someone... ;)

I stumbled across your blog while I was doing some online research. As someone who had the privilege of living in Japan for a number of years prior to returning to the United States, and I think this swap idea is an excellent one. I wish more people had such an opportunity.

Hi! Anjali is great, isn't she? i've just started a swap with her. I can't wait to receive my goodies!! :-)
She picked great stuf for you.

oh wow, what a lovely package! thanks for the link, i have been craving this specific candy from spain for eight years, maybe i can find someone to help me out!

Yay! Thanks for all the comment love! Here's my post about our swap.

I'm bringing all the candy to the movies tonight (Pirates of the Caribbean 2) -- except the Pop Rocks. It's going to be a total America-fest. I can't wait!

Ooooh..these are so lovely! Blogging partner Tiff is in Tokyo right now & she has become my international personal shopper...she has been (kindly) instructed to bring back trims & goodies! Can't wait!

Hey!
I'm from Singapore, and I'd love to do a swap with you if you'd like :)
You can visit my URL and let me know if there's anything you're interested in. I was thinking, since both Valentine's Day and Chinese New Year is round the corner, maybe I could send you a Chinese New Year package and you could send me a Valentine's package, since in Singapore we don't really celebrate Valentine's.
Let me know!
Hope to hear from you soon :)
