mother's day indeed!
The most fantastic mother's day present of all arrived at 2am Sunday: Issey returned home after being gone for 8 days. She returned with a few cuts and scrapes, and was apparently very tired (she's been doing a whole lot of sleeping!), but otherwise healthy and happy to see us! It was perfect timing, since I was worried I wouldn't be able to get in the mood for celebrating mother's day and Brynne's birthday, but her homecoming took a huge burden from my mind and I was able to relax and really be happy again. We've been getting huge amounts of snuggling, and we're guessing that her adventure was not all fun and games. I can't thank you all enough for your continued support and well wishes - each and every comment was meaningful to us. Thank you, and a belated Happy Mother's Day to all of the moms out there. I hope you all had a wonderful day - whatever form that might take!
I haven't gotten a whole lot of major crafing done lately, but this was piled next to my sewing machine this weekend:
This is a pile of scrubs (outfits that doctors and nurses wear) that Brynne's preschool has for the kids to use when they're playing doctor. But, these are adult sizes, and therefore far too long for the little ones to wear. I got them all hemmed and altered into wearable lengths for the kids.
I was also able to get in a bit of thrifting, and here are some of my finds from the weekend:
vintage kid's anatomy book
cute oilcloth apron for Brynne and giant (35US, 19mm) knitting needles for me
vintage kid's science/safety book
vintage sheet - gotta love the blues and greens!
incredible vintage sex ed book - I loved it for the font alone, but then when I opened it, I knew it was amazing:
love those graphic graphics!
this gorgeous tea pot
and a couple of vintage toy making books
I got some other goodies too, but they're going off as gifts to some bloggy friends, so I'm going to save the surprise. I get lucky like this pretty often, but I have to have the time to look through all the sections of the shops. This means that I can't go with Brynne in tow if I *really* want to look - she just doesn't have the patience yet. Luckily, Jerry will often watch her while I shop, or I can sometimes sneak in a trip to the shops when my workload isn't too heavy and she's at preschool.

Yay! I'm so excited that Issey returned. I knew she would come back. I actually saw a tabby cat running down the street and I thought of your poor lost kitty.

I'm glad your cat come back. I was thinking about her yesterday. When I lived in the city in Boston my cat Clio escaped for a week or so. I was worried too. Finally found him in a window well one street over all puffed up in the rain. I love that sex ed book-- how cool!

I'm a little late, but I am SOOOOO glad Issey came home - and that she came home all by herself: That means she knows where home is, and I know I felt so much better knowing my cat could find her own way home. Snuggle up close, and give her lots of love :)

I'm so glad that Issey returned. I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend, and a lucky thrifting one too.

Goodness. You make me wish I had a cat again, even with all the trouble and worry they can sometimes put you through! Glad she's back, and just in time for you to enjoy the weekend.
A neighbor/friend of mine thrifted that Wonderfully Made book awhile back, too, for the graphics, both graphic and not.
I had Saturday to myself hitting the nurseries, thrift stores, fabric and quilting store, farmer's market (gotta fit it ALL in when you get the chance, right?). It put me in the right mood to really enjoy Mother's Day at home with my family.
Great finds! I came home with some goodies, too. Maybe when my camera arrives I'll post about them, too.

yay kelly!! I'm so glad that issey came home. wow, that cat has wonderful timing. how good to have everyone back in the nest on mother's day.
Wonderful thrifting finds. That sex ed book is hilarious! And I think it's great that you're altering all those scrubs for brynne's preschool class. that's so helpful and wonderful for the children and the teacher!
happy belated mother's day...

I'm so happy Issy has returned! My coworkers and I were just talking about the sadness of losing pets and I thought about you ... I'm so glad there was a happy resolution!

Thank goodness your kitty came home!
I know what it's like to have one of your babies missing, I have a little spoiled pup that tends to run off when she hears loud noises and has been gone for as much as 5 days before and I cried every day she was gone!
It's crazy how such a delicate animal can make it in the "wilds" for so long and still make it home alive! :)
Thank goodness for ID tags!

I feel so happy that she is back!!! I know you are a stranger, but I feeel a real connection with your story. My kitty is really sick, and at the pivotal point where we don't know if he is going to make it or not. I feel like he is 'lost' and all I want is for him to come home, safe and sound. I miss his energy and crazy antics! So, having Issey come home gives me hope that my kitty, Ali, will come home too.
