Thanks to everyone reading this for checking back in after the long hiatus! We're back into the swing of things over here at buzzville, after a wonderfully relaxing (albeit too short!) vacation up in the mountains. The only major snafu was that we arrived at our cabin only to realize we had managed to pack up the car without Brynne's suitcase! After moments of cursing and tearing our hair out, Jerry came up with a brilliant solution - the ultimate thrift challenge. And so, we went to the nearest town with thrift stores (Big Bear) to procure a week's wardrobe for Brynne, including shoes, pajamas, a swim suit, hat, and both cold and warm weather clothes. We were remarkably successful (minus the shoes) and got her a wardrobe for under $30! Here are some pictures from our vacation for your viewing pleasure:
Brynne getting ready to dip her toes in the lake (in her thrifted swim suit).
On an early morning hike on the Children's Forest Trail (perfect for a toddler!) in the San Bernardino Mountains. The thrill of the hike for Brynne? Lizards!
Brynne's uncle is a pilot, and he and his wife flew in for a little overnight stay with us. Brynne had fun playing in the cockpit.
A great time was had by all, and the highlight for Brynne was undoubtedly the Moonridge Animal Park in Big Bear where she saw mostly local fauna (foxes, bears, eagles, deer, coyotes, etc.). She's still talking about it!
We came home to a hectic, but fun 4th of July celebration, beginning with the Ventura Pushem-Pullem Parade - a fun, kid's oriented parade where kids and parents decorate strollers, wagons, or other mini "floats" and walk downtown throwing candy to the crowds. Total madness! (Yes, this is "sunny" California!)
After enjoying a train ride, petting zoo, live bands, and more craziness downtown, we came home and I decorated a special cookie for Brynne:
We managed to see fireworks at night through the dense fog and Brynne's favorite new word is FIREWORKS!
Much crafty posting to come!
